Holden Caulfield is main character of this novel and He is my favorite character. In the beginning I really don't like him, he was too bad, he acted like adult people, and the most thing I hate about him is he continued to swear about the behavior of others who he thought were sickening, but for me he also continued to brag and do things that in my opinion were no different from those people. For me Holden is almost the same as other characters. Until the part when he confessed if he only wanted to stand in the field of the rye with his red hunting cap and look after the children playing in the rye, I realized he wanted to continue hugging his childhood, he missed his brother, and all the actions of his rebellion were expressions of hatred to adults. And I think he was so lonely.
Anyway, I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody's around - nobody big, I mean - except me. And I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff - I mean if they're running and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That's all I do all day. I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it's crazy, but that's the only thing I'd really like to be.
Although Holden's journey is only three days, for me it was quite long and tiring. Almost everyone he met was bad, even when he met his teacher, which I thought was good, but actually he was bad too. I wish I could hug him 🙆.
This book is very interesting. Although almost all I remember is Holden's swear, but for me Holden is an older brother who really loves her sister and I like him. He is at once too simple and too complex.
The ending part of this novel in my opinion is very unexpected, when I looked at no reason what made Holden have to continue his life, instead Phoebe, his younger sister saved his life.The quote I remember the most and I agree is the last part.
Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody.
